The University Advancement Directorate liaises with individuals and corporate institutions with the aim of promoting and developing support for the University of Ibadan. The main functions of the office are constituency relations (alumni, media, government), public relations, and fundraising.

The National President of the UIAA, Chief P. A. Dunkwu JP, gathered fellow Alumni of the University College Ibadan, as the University was then known, in the very first reunion of its kind. These individuals who matriculated between 1948 and 1962 are the first batch of Nigerian trained University Graduates and therefore hold a very special position in the history of Nigeria.
